Thanksgiving Fall Walk

Taking it back to a couple of weeks ago when we went on a family trip to hike at Crothers' Woods. It was really cool because it's the forest located right beside the Don Valley Parkway. However it was quite cold and windy that day so we didn't get to hike for a really long time. In addition, what made the hike really interesting was the fact that the trail was shared with cyclists. That meant that you not only had to be cautious of where you were stepping but you also had to watch out for bikes that are coming up behind you at the same time. Also, the forest was really dense and we also got lost because we couldn't figure out which trail we were at. We ended up having to walk back the same path or else we would have been really lost.

A year ago, my best friend and I bought tickets to go see Taylor Swift's new concert in Toronto which was going to be on October 3, 2015 and that was what happened three weeks ago. I was super excited because not only was I not going to see Taylor Swift but Shawn Mendes and Vance Joy were both going to open the concert for her and I love both of their music... Especially Vance Joy's! What is so cool is that Shawn Mendes is from Toronto too and he is now an up-and-coming artist and he returned back to his roots to perform in his hometown.

I had a really great time at the concert because 1) I got to take a picture at the Taylor Nation (Taylor Nation is a group of people that work for Taylor and also run events that help meet her) and 2) The light up bracelets were rad (They lit up and were controlled by something or someone and it turned us into props and created a super cool light show!)

The Hamilton Falls

So a couple day ago... I was stuck on the train for 2 hours so I looked through what videos from the summer holiday I still hadn't gotten around to editing and this video came up! So I managed to edit this up while being locked in the train. Hope you enjoy!

Backstory, I saw a couple of friends had taken pictures at the Albion Falls throughout the summer and I saw how pretty it was so we decided to go on a mini road trip and hike around Hamilton looking at the beautiful waterfalls! (Hamilton is famous for their waterfalls... roughly 100 waterfalls are located around the area). We got to visit two waterfalls on that day: the Albion Falls and the Devil's Punchbowl. The second waterfall was more of a fail because there wasn't enough water in the river to create a cascade... hiking to the vantage point was more interesting than the waterfall itself.

Exploring Scarborough Bluffs

So a couple of weeks ago... when it was still summer vacation and the weather was still nice, we decided to go on a family picnic at the Scarborough Bluffs. We woke up really early, and I drove to the park... it was a 30 minute drive so it wasn't really far. Then we had breakfast and then explored the park until it started to get too hot and we left.

Therefore we didn't spent a lot of time and I didn't capture a lot of footage. I tried to create a very artistic video with what I had recorded that day so I hope you enjoy!

(SEPT 26 UPDATE: I noticed that the video was blurry so I went back to my video editing software to see that I had exported the video in medium quality instead of high so I reexported and reuploaded the video! Hopefully it looks better now!)

TO2015 PanAm Games Opening Ceremony Vlog

A huge throwback to when I was invited to go watch the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Opening Ceremony (Dress Rehearsal) all the way back in July.

A little background on the ceremony... It was created by Cirque Du Soleil, a world famous Canadian entertainment company renowned for their circus shows. Therefore you can imagine the ceremony was very entertaining to watch... However, there were a lot of abstract meaning to the ceremony and I did not quite understand until I watched the real one on TV with live commentary. The commentary really helped me understand the message behind the show.

Here is a video showcasing my favourite parts of the whole show... Since it was a rehearsal, a lot of the special effects were saved for the actual show which was happening the next day. Nonetheless, I still had a great time! My seats although were in the highest level, I had a bird's eye view of the entire stage and was dead centre too!

Lavender Fields Vlog

Went to the Neob Lavender Fields last year but due to the snow storm, a lot of the plants were killed. Therefore they gave us a free admission to this year's lavender festival. Here is a video of our adventure to the Neob Lavender Festivals!

RIP Dong Dong

This cat originally belonged to my dance teacher and I got to take care of it for a whole month. During this month, I gotten really close to her... but unfortunately, this past week she passed away due to old age. And I miss her so much.

It's actually so nice to hang out with my friends again... it's been quite a long time (like 2 months since I've last saw them and maybe even more), so spending some good quality time aimlessly walking around Eaton Centre and just enjoying each other's company is the best.

Hi Squirrels!

A family of squirrels decided to visit our house and I got to see them playing around. Also, we made the world's most delicious chicken and omg... I am going to make this all the time... it is so easy to make! So here is the recipe!

Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken (no head and tail)
- 1 bowl of shallots
- 1 bowl of ginger
- 2 bunches of green onion
- 1/2 cup & 2 tbs of cooking wine

1. First clean the chicken and then marinade it with some salt.
2. Cut roughly six shallots in half and set aside.
3. Slice the ginger into big slices.
4. Chop up the green onion into roughly 5 cm sticks.
5. Stuff the chicken with a bit of ginger and the ends of green onion.
6. Rub the 2 tbs onto the chicken and pour a bit into the stomach of the chicken.
7. Place the shallots, ginger and the ends of the green onion onto the bottom of the rice cooker.
8. Place the chicken on the shallot mixture.
9. Sprinkle the rest of the green onion on top of the chicken.
10. Cook for 20 - 30 minutes, then let it sit in the rice cooker for at least 40 minutes.* (Time depends on how big the chicken is).
11. Chop up the chicken and voila!!!!

Shortest Vlog Ever

These two vlogs are actually polar opposites. The last vlog from Montreal was super fun, and super packed of fun stuff and today's vlog was just a normal vlog... haha found it so funny.

And actually we were supposed to go to Vaughan Mills after Cookstown today but we had to rush home because Mom forgot if she had put away the pot in the thermos or if she had left it on the stove... so we had to quickly go home to check. I also didn't notice either so Mom got a slight fright today haha. That's why the vlog was so short today... my bad.

Last Day of SummaVlogs?!?!?

To be honest, after this whole month of adventure I feel that it's time for me to stop recording videos and actually enjoy my summer vacation. I've spent countless hours filming and editing these videos and they are most certainly fun, and I've really learned how to use iMovie. I've also been able to capture lots of wonderful moments in the past few trips and now I will be able to remember them because they are all documented but now that I'm not going anywhere these next few months, I think that it's not necessary for me to record these videos anymore...

Où suis-je? (Where am I?)

So this weekend we went to Mont Tremblant with Auntie Grace. The weather was pretty good until the last day but it only started raining when we were in the hotel, in the restaurant or in the car. Unfortunately I wasn't able to upload any videos because the maximum upload usage is 100mbs per day and my vlogs are usually around 500mbs... and it was super slow so now that I'm back home, it's time to upload them because I've got fast internet again!

GOOD BYE YEE MA AND WOO SOO :(

I am so sad that Yee Ma and Woo Soo are leaving today. It's been a great month hanging out and travelling with them that I am so so so so sad that they are leaving. To be honest, I wish that they will live with us in Canada so we aren't as lonely and be able to have lots of fun times together. Hopefully, that will happen real soon because I miss them a lot already and it's only been like what... 2 hours?!?!?

And then on top of that I accidentally formatted/deleted all the files on my SD card and then overwrote stuff on top so now Dad is currently trying to recover the files but it is not looking very hopeful.

So I guess I present to you the very last vlog featuring Yee Ma and Woo Soo for this month... because I told them to come back next month to celebrate my birthday (fun fact: My birthday and lunar birthday is on the same day this year so it's super special!)

Welcome to Calgary!

The day started off a bit tough as we had an early wake up call and then had to wait at the airport for 3+ hours until the driver came to pick us up... but then everything changed.

1. The driver drove a huge car/truck to pick us up (and 4 other people but because they were late, we had the whole car to ourselves and it was a 13 person seater).

2. Arrived at the hotel and then was quickly ushered out to eat a delicious 6 dish Chinese meal.

3. Banff was beautiful and still is beautiful.

4. Our hotel was right across a Safeway (Grocery Store, so we managed to stock up our fruit and drinks... and then we realized we forgot to bring chopsticks to eat cup noodle. Me and Woo Soo quickly changed out of our pjs to run to Safeway to grab a few forks and chopsticks and we are now all set).

The majority of today was spent cleaning and preparing food for the hotpot and packing for my trip to the West Coast for tomorrow. Therefore didn't record too much stuff...

Went a little crazy again today on our shopping spree at Vaughan Mills. I can't believe Yee Ma and Woo Soo have been in Canada for two weeks already! Time passes by so fast when you are having lots of fun and every day is filled with fun adventures, and laughter.

Mini KBBQ at Home

Woops today's video was relatively short due to these reasons:

1. We were all tired from the Ottawa Trip
2. Woke up at 11am
3. Went to Yum Cha with Woo Soo's friend (And I didn't want to film them)
4. Preparing for the KBBQ took 1 hour
5. The KBBQ started at 7pm and ended at 11pm

Happy Mother's Day!

Today wasn't as eventful as we spent the majority of the day driving back to Toronto. Also, because we kinda took a wrong turn when driving, that caused us to drive through a detour and that meant we had to drive more than last time.

However buying the flowers was a true mission. I only had $19 dollars in cash and I wanted to get 2 bunch of flowers, both cost $10... thankfully the guy was very nice and let me have the flowers. (BTW, I had to scrap around my wallet and managed to get $19... haha it was very funny.)

Numero Deux in Ottawa

So today was probably the hottest day ever as it was like 30 degrees on top of it being humid as it wanted to rain. Therefore we spent the majority of the time indoors; walking around the Byward Market and shopping at Rideau Centre. However we managed to take pictures at the Parliament Hill before it got too hot and too sunny. 

For dinner we ate at a restaurant called Miso. It had very good service as the server was very nice to us and treated us by giving us extra stuff. Since they take the day off on Sundays, then they had to use up all the food and I think that is why they gave us extra stuff. In addition, the food was all very fresh as everything was prepared right after we ordered. I ordered a ramen and it was the biggest ramen I ever ate... it had LOTS of veggies (YUM!) and the Marinated Pork was literally falling apart. Oh and there was LOTs and LOTs of ramen too... Here's the picture of my ramen!

We will be returning home tomorrow therefore the videos will be uploaded tomorrow. I tested out uploading today and it said that it would take 300 minutes!!!! I much rather post tomorrow instead :P

Two Lips Festival

Went to Ottawa today because of the Tulip Festival. The tulips are given to us by the Netherlands due to us letting Princess Juliana, the Queen of Netherlands stay in Canada and take refuge during the World War II. Therefore to express her appreciation and gratitude for keeping her daughters and herself safe, and allow her to give birth to a baby girl; she donates tulips to Canada to give us her thanks.

However, this hotel has really bad wifi once again (download speed is fast but it takes forever to upload something) so I will be uploading the vlogs when I get back.

Cherry Blossoming

Today was been such a beautiful day spending time at High Park admiring the beautiful Cherry Blossoms. This year, the trees were blossoming more but unfortunately there were a lot more people. In addition, the weather channel said that it would be raining tomorrow so everyone were flocking into the park so they could get a glimpse before everything was ruined.

Anyway, I am going to Ottawa for the Tulip Festival tomorrow. I may not be able to upload the vlogs the next few days unless the hotel wifi is very fast. If it's slow, then I will do what I did last time and just do a quick update blog post for that day.

Funny Water Fountain

So today we were going to go to High Park to look at the Cherry Blossoms but because we arrived too late... there were too many people and the time was not right as the sun was above our head (this made it difficult to take pictures). So instead, we went to Eaton Centre to do a tiny bit of shopping and just wander around Downtown.

After a one hour drive home due to rush hour traffic, we had to quickly get dressed to go to a charity gala; Mother's Day Celebration by Carefirst (A non-profit organization for seniors). I also had to perform a dance with my mom and a few other people (Tip: stay till the end of the video to see me dance).

Feeding the Animals!

So today we went to the zoo and saw a lot of really cool things. First of all, we got to see the panda actually walking around, and then we got to see the grizzly bear, lion and giraffe being fed. The weather was also really nice so that means it wasn't very hot but not too cold... the weather was just right.

However, I feel like the song in the video doesn't really fit the theme of today's adventure... so I will also link the video I made last year when I went to the zoo as well just for your viewing pleasure!

Road Trip to US

Sorry... I won't be able to post today's vlog as the internet in this hotel is too slow. It was literally going to take 200 minutes and that was if I let my laptop stay on the entire night... and I didn't want to do that.

Evening Walk with the Family

Today was spent getting everything ready for tomorrow's road trip to the States. Most importantly was getting all the snacks prepared because a road trip isn't complete without the snacks.

Last Vlog of Winter Break

Dancing and Prancing

Lately I've been in a dancing mood and today was one of those days. And I finally managed to apply to get my passport successfully so that was a bonus! Oh! And today was extremely cold... -30 degrees Celsius including wind chill.

Designing My Own Magazine Cover?!?!?

I honestly had a lot of fun designing my own magazine cover............................ at Vaughan Mill's Digital Lounge. Templates were already set up and all I had to do was input my name, title, and the photo for the cover. I still liked this idea of interaction with the customers!

Only a couple days left...

Just a couple more videos/days are left until Winter Break is over. All of my friends are starting school tomorrow; they have all moved back to residence or have to go to school tomorrow... which is sad. However, I still have a few days of break left... so lucky me, but my class on Friday is going to be an one hour lecture as the rest of the classes for the day are cancelled. At least the class is not a 8 am class.

Today was a really relaxing day as I did some chores, went grocery shopping at the Walmart Supercentre and also did some fun stuff. Hope you enjoy today's video!!

How To Make Salmon Fish Soup
